The Sphynx Breed: Temperament, Care & Health
The sphynx breed is known for a playful temperament, people-oriented personality, and distinctive skin that feels warm to the touch. Many owners say their kittens act more like friendly dogs—following you from room to room and curling up like a little friend.
Because the sphynx has a relatively high metabolism and unique nutritional needs, we share care guidance that covers bathing routines, nail and ear care, and how to protect delicate skin. You’ll find practical advice about managing allergies and the typical “hypoallergenic” myth (no cat is truly hypoallergenic, though some families report fewer symptoms with hairless breeds). Our Care & Health hub goes deeper.
We address hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) transparently. Parents in our breeding sphynx program are screened on a regular cadence; we publish test type, date, and clinic/city so adopters can verify. Start here: Sphynx HCM testing.
For families curious about the breed standard, we emphasize confident, outgoing temperament, balanced structure, and the elegant, distinctive look that makes the sphynx unforgettable.
Our Story
Michelle founded Skin Goblins after a deeply personal loss. In her words:
“My son passed away due to suicide. I wasn’t doing very well and couldn’t even get out of bed or function properly. I realized that I needed to do something or else I would lose my house. That’s when I came across a hairless kitty (who isn’t so hairless anymore), and it changed my world. I started feeling better and eventually got better. It dawned on me that I could help others in crisis by providing them with their very own ‘love bug’.”
Out of that moment grew a caring, ethics-first program for the sphynx—a breed whose warmth, skin-to-skin cuddles, and people-first temperament can brighten daily life. While companion animals can be excellent support, they’re not a substitute for professional help. If you or someone you know is in crisis in the U.S., call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Our Breeding Program & Philosophy
Responsible breeders build a resilient breeding program around sound health, structure, and socialization—not advertising gimmicks or third-party websites. We publish test logs, avoid crowded or caged environments, and keep litters small so each kitty gets hands-on care.
Care begins before a litter is born, from pairing decisions to environment prep. After arrival, kittens stay warm, are gently handled, and follow a consistent feeding plan (quality food and hydration are essential). As they grow, we nurture the playful spirit that helps a companion pet fit into a family home without destroying furniture.
We also love meaningful enrichment. Some families explore animal-assisted therapy work with exceptionally calm cats or dogs. While therapy certification isn’t guaranteed, prioritizing temperament and daily caring routines lays the proper foundation.

“”Michelle loves each and every one of her Sphynx babies and it shows in the way she cares for them before you get to take your nakid home! She would send me updates/photos and even let me visit my
Toad multiple times before he was ready to go. I would highly recommend her cattery!”

FAQs
Do you list prices on the website?
We do not publish prices publicly. After reviewing your application and confirming your fit, we will share deposit details and current pricing with you privately.
Is the sphynx hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but some families with allergies report fewer symptoms with hairless breeds. We’ll discuss cleaning routines, bathing, and how to manage dander on furniture and surfaces.
What should I feed a sphynx kitten?
Balanced nutrition is essential for the sphynx, which can have a relatively high metabolism. We’ll recommend age-appropriate food options and portions during your pickup appointment.
Do you work with other breeders?
